WHAT IS CVSA BRAKE SAFETY WEEK?

CVSA Brake Safety Week is a part of Operation Airbrake’s campaign towards improving commercial vehicle brake safety throughout North America. The purpose is to promote brake-safety awareness and outreach opportunities, perform brake-related inspections, and conduct violation data collection.

WHY IS THERE A CVSA BRAKE SAFETY WEEK?

  • Brake-related violations comprise the largest percentage of all out-of-service vehicle violations cited during roadside inspections.
  • Six out of the top 20 vehicle violations were brake related.
  • Last year’s CVSA International Roadcheck found that 25.2% of all vehicle out-of-service violations were brake-system related.

WHAT TO EXPECT

CVSA-certified inspectors will conduct routine commercial motor vehicle inspections focusing on brake systems and components.
